After lunch at Pine Country Restaurant - Williams - Arizona, it was a short drive to Grand Canyon National Park. Gourmet Pigs' and I had both been to Grand Canyon West Rim before so we debated whether we should visit the South Rim. Her friend highly recommended it, and well, we were already in the area...
We figured we'd check out the views, snap some photos, and continue making our way home. Luckily, we only had to circle the Grand Canyon Village area a few times before a spot serendipitously opened up.
The West Rim is more narrow than the South Rim. So while I thought it was quite nice, it wasn't as "grand." This view makes me feel like I'm truly seeing the "Grand" Canyon.
We made our way over to that building on the left of the photo below.
Took some more photos, of course.
The thing was, unless we had a lot of time to spare to hike, the view would have pretty much been the same.
So we snapped some more photos, but they all seemed to be the same since we could only get so many angles from a pretty small area.
Good enough. OK, not really good enough. The Grand Canyon deserves a longer stay, which we didn't have. This would have to do.
From there we drove straight back to SoCal. We stopped off for a late night dinner at Sam Woo Barbeque - Alhambra for their $3.95 after 10:30 p.m. menu.
Tired! And so concludes my jam-packed three days exploring the Southwest Four Corners region of the United States.

Can't believe you did all that in three days!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous views -- I hadn't thought about how the gigantic-ness of the setting makes it hard to get different views without A LOT of hiking! Haven't been to the Grand Canyon, but that will be remedied soon, I hope.

We walked maybe a mile or so? But even then, as you can see, the view was essentially the same. You'd really have to get down there and hike to experience it, which I didn't have time on this trip to do.
