Campfire S'mores and Other Breakfast Treats

After a lackluster morning Searching for Tide Pools we went back to the campsite for breakfast. With the campfire still going strong, we decided to have some S'mores for breakfast.

Besides, I had to take new photos because my attempts to photograph making S'mores at night were grainy and unfocused.

While the middle '87 was a perfectly fine hand model, my brother had to horn in to show her how it's done.

One is more than enough for me. Too sweet.

My mom was frying up banh tet (Vietnamese sticky rice cakes) for breakfast.

What kind of berries are these? I wasn't sure and didn't know if they were edible.

I knew salal berries were edible though, even though my parents said I shouldn't eat strange berries in the wild. But I know what kind of berries they are. My oldest aunt was intrigued and ate some too.

Here's that square-stemmed huckleberry/not-huckleberry that still confounded me.

  1. Dear Wandering chopsticks,

    Your smores look good!

I find it very difficult to get that right combination of softness of the marshmellow with the melted chocolate.

I usually will wrap my smore in aluminum foil and pop it into the fire. This way, the graham cracker or marshmellow doesn't burn and the chocolate still melts. It comes out delicious!
