Barview Jetty County Park - Rockaway Beach - Oregon

After getting ice cream and free cheese samples at Tillamook Cheese Factory - Tillamook - Oregon it was time to head over to the camp. My parents were still out fishing though, so we went to the beach while we waited for them to arrive.

Like my attempt at getting an artistic photo of my brother and his wife? I like the kite in the background too. :)

Growing up, my family spent most weekends on the Oregon and Washington coasts during the summers. These days for camping, we prefer Barview Jetty County Park near Tillamook. Barview is an unincorporated area between the towns of Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach.

The campground has plenty of bushes and trees so there is privacy between each space. The bathrooms are usually within a short walking distance with flush toilets and coin-operated hot water showers. The jetty near the beach is a good fishing spot for my dad. The beach itself is located within the campground and makes a great place to jog in the mornings. The Tillamook Cheese Factory and Pacific Oyster - Bay City - Oregon keep us kids occupied. There are also plenty of other quaint coastal towns nearby for us to explore.

The jetty where my dad fishes is the dark bar beyond the beach.

The middle '87 was bundled up as if we were in Alaska. C'mon! It's only Oregon in September!

When my parents called and said they were at our campsite, we left the beach to help them set up the tents.

It had rained that morning so we put up the tarp first in case it rains again the next day, which it usually does in Oregon.

Cots! We didn't have cots when I was little! We were tough and slept on the ground! My mom said they bought them for $10? during a great sale. Plus, they're older now and sleeping on the ground causes too many aches the next morning. They also borrowed extras from their friends, who also bought them during the sale too.

The smaller tent was for my brother and his wife.

My dad was super excited to have all his kids home together since only lil' sis and I came home together last summer. And as a family, we last went camping the year before that. I swear, my mom must have packed enough food for a week. After setting up the tents, we left my mom and oldest aunt to make dinner. They told us to go play!

We stopped by the side of the road where my dad had his favorite spot and helped him collect driftwood for the fire.

I find the "Entering Tsunami Hazard Zone" sign amusing.

Some bushes around the campground. I could have sworn these were huckleberries because of the square stems, but the berries don't look like huckleberries at all. Anyone know?

Salal berries. They taste a little like spicier blueberries.

Love fresh roasted corn.

My mom even packed a generator to cook ribs in her Galloping Gourmet portable oven, but I told her putting the ribs over the fire would be tastier. I swear. A generator! It's like luxury camping.

And of course, no camping trip is complete without toasting marshmallows and making S'mores.

Unfortunately, it had been way too long since I've been camping because I was dying without my laptop. Dying! Kept checking my phone every 10 minutes. And it was only 7 p.m.! My siblings made fun of me, but seriously! I also noticed Wi-Fi cafes in Tillamook when we went to the grocery store to get the ingredients for S'mores. Oh! I totally could have hid out in a cafe. So instead I played with the campfire and talked with my family and made a YouTube video
