Waiting for Peony

5.13 Waiting for Peony 1

Notice any difference between the top and bottom photo? Subtle. Just angled slightly different, but I just couldn't make up my mind so I kept them both.

I am always ridiculously pleased when my peony blooms. Just one bloom. But I'll take what I can get.

On March 27, I noticed shoots reappearing.

May 12 at 8:31 a.m. Almost there! And the blooms were starting to wilt at the edges so I cut it and put it in a vase.

At 6:16 p.m., I got this gorgeous bloom.

So pretty! And worth the annual anticipation.

Much, much more spectacular than last year's peony.

Other garden updates.

  1. Both pics are lovely and if I *had* to choose one, I'd go for the second - the centre is more in focus plus you get a better sense of all the lovely folds.

My next door neighbour's peony is just starting to bloom now and I'm keeping my beady eye on it so I can photograph it when it's out. Although I must say, I think I *almost* prefer the bud...

  2. Oanh,
Ha! I liked that top photo precisely because it's not centered. :P
