Mill Ends Park (Smallest Park in the World) - Portland - Oregon

So after getting the cross street from the guy at the tourist information office at Pioneer Courthouse Square, we were off to find the smallest park in the world.

See it?

So the story goes that...

...from his second-story office of the Oregon Journal, journalist Dick Fagen looked at the empty lamp post hole on Front Avenue and imagined leprechauns holding weddings and other celebrations. He wrote it up in his "Mill Ends" column of the newspaper and on St. Patrick's Day in 1976, the lamp post hole was dedicated as an official city park. Mill Ends Park is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's smallest park, measuring 2 feet in diameter or 452.16 inches.
