*Ahem.*
I just wanted to point out that I make a pretty good Southern fried chicken and cream gravy and I am not driving out to Eagle Rock unless it's really worth it.

Mrs. SinoSoul and I were craving hot pot, so we ended up at Happy Sheep Cafe Shabu & Grill in San Gabriel. This used to be Little Fat Sheep, but I guess they've split from the main branch in China?
We were immediately given rolls, peanuts, and daikon pickles.

Spicy and normal Chinese herbal broths for $3.50 per person.

A woman at the table next to us insisted on giving us her lamb skewers. Liberally dusted with cumin, the skewers were wonderful. Not too gamey at all.

Sliced beef and lamb.

Bamboo shoots.

Fish balls.

Beef tendon.

Pea shoots.

Blood and sticky rice sausage.

Vermicelli noodles.

Not as greasy as Monland Hot Pot City - San Gabriel that was across the street. I liked this better. Warm bellies. We left happy.

The bill was about $40 for three people.

holy that's so cheap
ReplyDeleteI like Little Fat Sheep. This looks like the same/improvements over the old restaurant! The Monterey Park location also changed names. It's now some sichuan style hotpot, if I read the sign correctly :).
ReplyDelete"A woman at the table next to us insisted on giving us her lamb skewers." How interesting! I've never had that experience.
I like that split bowl.
ReplyDeleteMichelle,
ReplyDeleteNot that cheap. Kinda standard for hot pot actually.
ETE,
The lamb skewers were really good and I guess the woman didn't want them to go to waste? It was just the two of them.
Weezer Monkey,
They all have split bowls. $14.99 seems to be the going rate if you want one to make at home. You, cook? Ha! ;)
