The middle '87's oldest brother had come home from work a little early to take us out for dinner. How nice! He mentioned once that the Korean barbecue restaurants in LA don't give us as many banchan (Korean side dishes) as his favorite place, Sura Korean Cuisine in Oakland, so that's where we decided to have dinner.
I think this has to be the most colorful array of panchan I've ever had.
Purple cabbage!
All the side dishes were wonderful.
It's nice to have such variety to choose from too.
Sometimes I get tired of just the basic Baechu Kimchee (Korean Pickled Napa Cabbage) and a few vegetables.
So 18 side dishes, plus rice, and steamed egg.
We also ordered a Soon Dubu Kimchi Jjigae (Korean Tofu Stew), $9.95.
And Galbi (Korean Short Ribs), $22.95. You can just barely see a bone underneath the mound of meat.
Afterward, we were given a sweet drink.
And green tea ice cream.
What a great meal to end our visit up north.
