Chasing Waterfalls - Columbia River Gorge - Oregon

11 Chasing Waterfalls - Columbia River Gorge - Oregon 1

No visit home is complete without visiting the waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge.

Before we left, of course, our breakfast was my mom's banh canh cua (Vietnamese crab noodle soup) with homemade noodles and crab that my parents had caught.

We started off at Multnomah Falls.

I wanted to hike to the top because it's been years since I've done so. The middle '87, however, said she heard there was a lovely bridge near the bottom where we could take photos instead. :P

The bottom of the top falls.

I love how green Oregon always looks.

A few quick snaps and goofing off pictures and we said good-bye to Multnomah Falls.

Next up, Wahkeena Falls.

Snap. Snap. And we moved on.

We skipped Bridal Veil Falls because I told them it was a .6 mile hike down to the waterfall, and none of them wanted to do so.

I love this shaded curvy drive along the Historic Columbia River Highway.

Latourell Falls with its florescent yellow lichen is one of my favorites too.

Not photoshopped in any way.

Maidenhair fern is my favorite. Isn't it just beautiful?

Miner's lettuce. Good for salads. The stuff I still remember from sixth grade outdoor school. :)

I love the bridge too.

We always end at Crown Point Vista House for expansive views of the Columbia River Gorge.

When we got back home, my mom made Hainanese chicken rice for a late lunch.

Then later when visiting cousin T, she made us chicken pot pie.

That's not enough to feed all of us though. We had this huge pot pie.

Mmm. Pie.

  1. Multnomah Falls is so beautiful. I love how lush and green Oregon is, a far cry from SoCal! We might stop by the waterfalls we didn't see during our trip (Wahkeena, Horsetail, and another one, don't remember).

  2. CC,
I can't get used to how dry it is when I go hiking in SoCal. You probably missed Shepherd's Dell. I usually miss that one since it comes up so suddenly and there's no place to turn around.
