Karma Cafe - Portland - Oregon (Closed)

5 Karma Cafe - Portland - Oregon 1

After a late lunch at Ha & VL - Portland - Oregon, I wanted to catch up on blogging and some other stuff. While Portland does have free Wi-Fi, it really only works best in the downtown area.

So, I went back to my old neighborhood and to Karma Cafe, which is owned by cousin T's friend. Karma Cafe is located in a small strip mall with a handful of other Asian businesses that didn't exist back in the day ie. when I attended Binnsmead Middle School. Holla! Haha.

Drinks are in the $3 range. Boba, even, which only hit Portland less than a decade ago. There's Vietnamese coffee on the menu as well as the usual assortment of teas and fruit drinks.

I just got a Thai iced tea.

Portland is rather pretty, yes?

After a few hours, it was time to go home for dinner with my parents.

Are they being tongue-in-cheek, or do they really not understand that naming a restaurant Hung Far Low might not have been the best idea? Either way, it should definitely be added to my list of funny restaurant names.

This location has always been some kind of Chinese-American restaurant as far back as I can remember.

Mom made Oc Xao Nam He (Vietnamese Clams Sauteed with Mushrooms and Chives) with razor clams she and my dad had recently dug up on the Oregon coast.

  1. hi wc - OMG!!! That is THE BEST NAME I've ever seen of a Chinese restaurant! I would totally eat at HUNG FAR LOW! They should sell t-shirts with their logo! :)

  2. CC,
Haha. Well, if you time your next visit to PDX when I'm home, we can go together. There used to be a bar downtown with that same name, not sure if it still exists.
