It takes about two months from the time the dragon fruit blossoms to when it's ripe for eating. I have no idea why I had such a bumper crop in 2009, but not in previous years.
Of course, not all dragon fruit are so easily accessible.
I had to climb on a chair and really stretch to reach some fruit. Others, had to be extricated carefully on account of the tiny thorns. It is a cactus fruit, after all.
Ah, but for bounty such as this, so worth it. I harvested nearly a dozen dragon fruit this time, in addition to a sporadic fruit here or there.
Other garden updates.

That is a very interesting looking fruit. Is it sweet?
ReplyDeleteLili,
ReplyDeleteIt's slightly sweet, but not too much.
