El Ranchero Restaurant - Alhambra

So what can beat 55-cent taco Tuesdays?

Why 50-cent taco Mondays, of course. Gotta go 5 cents less and a day ahead of the competition!

In May 2009, Gourmet Pigs and I decided to try El Ranchero Restaurant's 50-cent tacos, which are sold from 5 p.m. to midnight on Mondays.

These tacos were about the size of my palm, but unlike Tacos Mexico, the fillings are much sparser.

I felt like I got maybe a tablespoon's worth of meat.

And was eating more tortilla than anything else.

The tacos came with a handful of nacho chips.

On the plus side, they do have all the various meats and toppings available and for 50 cents, I can't complain too much. But, it's worth the slight bit more for just that slight bit more filling at Tacos Mexico.

El Ranchero does offer an extensive Mexican and burger menu, including menudo on weekends, but it's the 50-cent taco Mondays that has cars jam-packed into the parking lot.
