Indocart Indonesian & Dutch Groceries - Duarte

Indocart Indonesian and Dutch Groceries - Duarte 1

After lunch at Pondok Kaki Lima (Indonesian Street Food) - Duarte Inn, Gourmet Pigs and I stopped into Indocart to check out its Indonesian and Dutch groceries. Even though I knew Indonesia was a Dutch colony, this was the first grocery store that I've seen with such a large selection of Dutch products in such a tiny space.

I was intrigued by the Dutch honey cake, but wondered if it had been sitting there too long and might be dry.

I was pretty pedestrian in my purchases: root beer, tamarind juice, tea candy and a Hainanese chicken rice mix.

Worth a visit if you're in the area just to check out the Dutch packaged goods and Indonesian spices. Plus, this makes it the first Dutch entry on my blog. :P

  1. Huaaa I saw my two favourite brands of Indonesian sambal sauce, cap belibis and cap jempol. Yep the Dutch eats the fries with mayo and it's called patat

  2. Belgians eat their fries with mayo, too! This shop looks like it's not far from India Sweets and Spices -- a place my office lunch bunch used to go for really cheap vegetarian Indian food.

  4. I am intrigued by the Tea Candy. How do you like it?

  5. Pepy,
I'll have to keep those brands in mind to try the next time I go to the store then.

    Nikki,
I've been to an India Sweets and Spices in L.A. and liked the samosa I got.

    GP,
I forgot about both sets of photos until I reshuffled my photos into chronological order.

    Tuty,
Yup! The candy tasted a bit refreshing actually and not too sweet so I liked it a lot.
