After Wahkeena Falls, we continued west a few miles to Bridal Veil Falls. This 140-foot waterfall can't be viewed from the Historic Columbia River Highway, but it's well-worth the .5 mile hike down.
The trail is fairly easy and crosses a little bridge, in the top right of the photo below, where you can get a nicer view of the waterfall.
View taken from the bridge.
The only strenuous part is a slightly steep hike back up to the parking area. The wall of ferns just reminds me of how green Oregon is and how much I miss hiking in a slightly damp, verdant forest.
Onward to Latourell Falls, with the radioactive yellow lichen.

There's also a Bridal Veils waterfall trail at Yosemite. It's really pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteDiana,
ReplyDeleteI've been there too. :)
hi wc - gorgeous photos of the falls! my husband, daughter and i loved the waterfalls during our oregon trip last spring. my daughter especially enjoyed the hike down the hill to get to bridal veil falls. i love how green it is in oregon and how the trees are covered with moss.
ReplyDeletethis summer, we are going to toronto as well as manitoulin island (where my blogger friend 'life on manitoulin' lives). there is also a bridal veil falls over there. the island she lives on is the largest island in a the largest freshwater lake in north america.
looking forward to more of your oregon posts. i really liked it there and hope to visit again really soon.
CC,
ReplyDeleteThat's one of the things I really miss about home, all the greenness of everything.
I think Bridal Veil is a pretty popular name for a lot of waterfalls. :)
