Introducing "Tiberia"

Introducing the newest grandbaby in the WC clan, my brother's daughter "Tiberia." Not her real name, but you get bonus points if you can figure out the reference. There's a geeky connection to her real name too. :P

Isn't she darling?

Introducing "Tiberia" 1

My niece was born at 4:19 a.m. She's 20 inches long and weighs 6 pounds, 6 ounces.

Long fingers like her daddy.

Introducing "Tiberia" 2

Long toes too. I bet one day, she'll pick up pebbles with her toes and have contests tossing them into the ocean with her daddy. (The dorky things my brother and lil' sis do with each other. I'm too short, with stubby toes, so I get excluded from their beach games.)

Introducing "Tiberia" 3

Cutest little yawn.

Introducing "Tiberia" 4

I held her for hours but she didn't want to wake up. No, she doesn't want to face the cold, cruel world! She wanted to stay in her dark little cocoon. She came in nine days ahead of schedule.

Introducing "Tiberia" 5

Long tongue like her daddy too. I don't wanna play with daddy, she says.

Introducing "Tiberia" 6

Look how tightly she held onto my brother's finger.

Introducing "Tiberia" 7

"Hi!"

She's awake!

Introducing "Tiberia" 8

These are just some of the photos I quickly emailed off to my parents, who were eagerly waiting to see pictures of their first grandchild.

Introducing "Tiberia" 9

I haven't sorted through them all.

How many pictures did I take, my brother asked.

Only 409.

How many? He asked again.

What? That's not too many, is it? :P

Darling niece, I can't wait to snuggle you and kiss you and hold you all over again. And when you get older, we'll bake cookies and have tea parties and play princess, never mind that your daddy wants you to be a tomboy and take karate lessons. Cookies and afternoon tea and frilly dresses are way more fun. :)

  4. How cute! Love the tounge photo and the awake photos :). 409 photos isn't too much...but I usually get that many in a month if I am not doing anything special. I'd take the same amount of pictures for such an occasion though!

2 years already since the day __ series? Time flies!

  7. You make me think of me when my first niece was born way back in 1981. I loved her like you are loving Tiberia. And I'm with caninecologne, I'm thinking it's a Kirk thing with the name (I adore Kirk, lol).

Did you watch Friends in it's heyday? I remember when Ross's baby was born, Monica said "I will always have gum." There ya go. :)

She's absolutely beautiful. Congratulations to you and your family.

  8. Adorable. I would say anything under 500 photos is perfectly understandable.

  11. Wow, congratulations, WC! You took some really beautiful shots! I especially love the way the lighting plays on her perfect little face in the fifth photo, and ALL the last three photos! She is so precious.

Many congratulations, Auntie! (I just became one for the first time as well, that's why I went to Wyoming...)

  13. Tammy,
Thanks! It was hospital lighting and we kept it a little dim, but I thought my camera did a pretty good job. I had to hold her for hours before she woke up in order to get those last pictures.

    Susan,
    Thanks!
