My ong co (Vietnamese great-grandfather), ba noi's father's, death anniversary back in February.
Last weekend, Gourmet Pigs had an extra ticket to the LA Opera so she took me to see Franz Schreker's "The Stigmatized (Die Gezeichneten)."
Umm, LA Opera? I'm still traumatized by the gratuitous nudity and rape scene at the end.
Completely unnecessary.
I much prefer Italian operas thank you very much.
Before the show, I snapped some shots of the fountain in front of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
The Dance Door with a view of city hall.
Lots of stuff happened in between, but I'm a little too tired to go into all that right now.

1 year ago today, Autumn Sunset climbing rose.
2 years ago today, boat people, my friend Don, and his mom's pho bo (Vietnamese beef noodle soup).
3 years ago today, after a cold frost, everything's growing again in my garden -- Lady Fairbanks roses blooming over a trellis, strawberries ripening in the side herb garden, and wildflowers popping up at random.
Did you enjoy the opera? It sounded very interesting with that scene at the end...
ReplyDeleteI can not begin to thank you for introducing me to the concept of using those plastic kiddie pools as container gardens. I found one on the street on a "big pick up" day in the fall and had brocholi, collards and assorted herbs in the winter. After doing a spring vegetable plant in it, I found a slightly cracked one in the bottom of a canyon and hauled it home. So now I have 2 and once all the lovely greenery takes over you hardly notice the plastic. You are an angel!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love your blog
ReplyDeleteI always learn something from your posts. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteDiana,
ReplyDeleteI like operas in general, but much prefer the Italian ones. This one was German so singing and storyline wasn't my cup of tea.
H,
Awesome! My kiddie pools are falling apart so I need new ones! I can't believe you hauled one home from a canyon!
Anna,
It was so great to meet you the other night!
Cathy,
Aww. Thanks!
