Hollyhocks

6.28 Hollyhocks 1

The hollyhocks I had nestled behind my pots of roses finally bloomed.

6.28 Hollyhocks 2

They don't grow as tall as the hollyhocks did at my old house. The blooms aren't as big either.

But I'll take what I can get.

Other garden updates.

*****
1 year ago today, a mourning dove nested in my camellia bush.
2 years ago today, Cajun crawfish so spicy sweat will run down your face at Rockin' Crawfish - Westminster (Little Saigon).

  1. So pretty. My hollyhocks were totally wiped out this year from some type of rust! It's awful. I'm hoping to start fresh next year.

  2. I think the poor hollyhocks are just trying to find sunlight thru the roses- they are sun hogs and such happy looking plants. Changing gardens is tough- I will be sad when I have to leave this one. The neighbors tell me how much one of the prior tenants planted/loved certain of the plants and trees (mostly roses). It is an honor to carry on the garden.

  4. Pam,
I got lots of seeds from these hollyhocks if you'd like some.

    H,
My garden actually gets a lot of direct sunlight. I think the poor things need real soil instead of little pots. I still think about my old garden a lot! :(

    Nikki,
    :)
