Forty-five minutes after we left our cell phone numbers and we went across the street to Matsumoto's 2nd Street Jazz - Los Angeles (Little Tokyo) for some drinks, two spots finally opened up for us at Sushi Komasa.
By then, it was 9:30 p.m. and the lines out the door had disappeared.
I know it seems a little boring, but I went again with the dinner combination. I started off with hot green tea and miso soup.
If I recall correctly, it was about $16, which was a great deal for tea, soup, rice, salad, sushi, tempura, and teriyaki chicken. I can't resist a bargain. I shared with my friend, who ordered regular sushi as well.
The sushi prices were around $4 an order? Yellowtail?
Halibut with scallions, fish roe, and ponzu?
Scallops.
Unagi.
The sushi was solid, fresh and delicious. The combo was a good price, and splitting that and sushi, means a pretty affordable dinner as far as sushi restaurants go. I can see why there's a line out the door during prime dinner hours.
